What is School of Ministers?

School of Ministers is an eight-month discipleship opportunity for young adults (ages 18-30) run yearly from September to April at Southland Church in Steinbach MB. The goal is to build incredibly strong foundations of faith in Jesus Christ through learning how to align our hearts with His and allowing Him to revive us from within. This creates space to refine us to live holy lives, and propels us to intentionally reach out to advance His Kingdom in our community and beyond. We desire to see willing disciples of Jesus working with the local church and strengthening a generation for whatever lies ahead!

REVIVE

THE HEART

"I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts."
Isaiah 57:15b NLT

REFINE

TO HOLINESS

"I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure.  I will refine them... They will call on my name, and I will answer them."
Zechariah 13:9 NLT

REACH OUT

TO OTHERS

"I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth."
Isaiah 49:6b, ESV

What to Expect

An emphasis in School of Ministers is spending time in the Bible and drawing close to God both personally and corporately. This is done through personal devotions, small group participation, in-class worship, homework and above all else, prayer.

School days are set on Wednesdays and Fridays to provide students plenty of time for volunteer hours, homework and part-time work. This unique aspect of the school opens the door to being intentional in the workplace, at home, and in community as students learn and grow in a variety of areas such as:

  • How God speaks
  • Old Testament survey
  • Kingdom of God
  • Dating and Marriage
  • End Times
  • Attributes of God
  • Defending our Faith
  • Evangelism
  • The Importance of the Church

As a mission of Southland Church, we expect students to participate in regular church activities and church-wide events. These include joining a small group, attend weekend messages, monthly Prayer Summits and volunteering in the church. All of these act as catalysts for hands on learning outside the classroom.

Thank you for your interest in School of Ministers!
