NOTE: Deadline for 2nd term is January 8th, 2018.
The past eight years 425 young people have completed the Year 1 portion of School of Ministers, 115 have finished Year 2 and three students have entered vocational ministry after taking our specialized Year 3 program. The mission of School of Ministers continues to be to, “revive, refine and reach out.” Prayerfully we look for any opportunity to accomplish this mandate. Through such prayer and much consideration and reflection, comes the addition of a Monday morning time slot to provide further equipping to various believers in any one of a number of life situations.
Who Is This For?
Monday mornings are intended for students who fit into one of the following three categories: 1) are enrolled for the current year of School of Ministers 2) are former students of School of Ministers 3) are over the age of 30.
There is also the expectation that each student: 1) attends a small group of some type, 2) serves in their local church 3) has attended a Set Free retreat. Finally, prospective participants who have children are expected to find reliable and consistent child care so as to ensure that their attendance is regular.
This opportunity will be provided on Monday mornings from 9:00 - 12:00. It will be run for two terms. Students can do both terms OR only one term.
The first term will run from Oct. 2 - Dec. 18, 2017. The second term will run from January 15th – April 2nd
What Is The Schedule?
The first hour (8:00 – 9:00) will include time for devotions, sharing what was received in devotions and connecting time.
From 9:00 – 12:00, there will be mix of large group discussion, small group discussion and personal reflection. Please note: SOM Monday mornings is primarily discussion-based, using assigned materials as a springboard. The facilitators Chris Puhach, Dominique Kozarchuk as well as a few others, will do some teaching as well.
Term 1 (11 weeks) will include discussion on the following topics: 1) Spiritual Gifts and Spiritual Warfare In The Body of Christ 2) An In-depth Look At The Covenants of God Through The OT and NT.
Term 2 (11 weeks) will include discussion on the Book of Revelation
Special note: Former SOM students will find some overlap, but the opportunity will exist to go much more in-depth on these topics than there was in year 1 or 2. Those who have never attended SOM may have a bit of pre-term catch up to do, but nothing overly burdensome.
Prospective students should go to schoolofministers.org and fill out our online “Monday Mornings” application. The Director of School of Ministers, Chris Puhach or the Student Coordinator, Dominique Kozarchuk will then be in contact to set up a one-on-one meeting to see if this is the right fit for you.
Upon acceptance, a small fee of $75 per term will be due to cover the costs of books, printed materials and staff time.
Students can expect roughly 5-7 hours of “homework” per week. Therefore, the weekly commitment could reach close to 12 hours/week for these 3 months.
Student will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the term (provided that “homework” was done and participation was sufficient).
Finally, the topics will cycle through a 2 or 3 year rotation so that a solid foundation of equipping can be experienced by regular participants.
